FAQs/Trading Rules

  • What is Prop/Funded Trading?

Prop trading, also known as proprietary trading, refers to trading activities carried out by a trading firm or financial institution using the firm's own capital rather than clients' funds. In prop trading, traders use the firm's money to make trades in various financial instruments such as stocks, bonds, options, futures, and currencies with the goal of generating profits for the firm.
Funded trading, on the other hand, is a specific type of prop trading where traders are provided with capital by a proprietary trading firm to trade with. In funded trading programs, traders are typically required to meet certain performance targets and risk management rules set by the firm in order to be eligible for funding. Funded trading programs are popular among individual traders who may not have enough capital to trade with on their own or who want to gain experience and access to additional resources and support provided by the trading firm.
These programs often offer traders the opportunity to trade with larger amounts of capital and potentially earn a share of the profits generated, while also sharing a portion of the losses with the firm. It is important for traders to carefully review and understand the terms and conditions of any funded trading program they are considering, including the funding amount, profit-sharing structure, risk management rules, and any fees or costs involved. Traders should also ensure that the proprietary trading firm is reputable, regulated, and transparent in its operations.

  • How to start Prop/Funded Trading?

To start prop or funded trading, you will need to follow these steps:
    1. Education and Preparation: - Begin by educating yourself about the financial markets, trading strategies, risk management, and trading psychology. You can enroll in trading courses, read books, watch online tutorials, and practice trading on demo accounts. - Develop a trading plan outlining your trading goals, risk tolerance, preferred trading style, and strategies. - Make sure you have a solid understanding of the terms and conditions of funded trading programs and the requirements to qualify for funding.
    2. Choose a Proprietary Trading Firm: - Research and select a reputable and regulated proprietary trading firm that offers funded trading programs. Look for firms that have a transparent application process, clear funding terms, and a supportive trading community. - Check the firm's funding options, profit-sharing structure, risk management rules, and any fees or costs associated with the program.
    3. Apply for Funding: - Submit an application to the proprietary trading firm of your choice. This may involve providing information about your trading experience, performance history, risk management skills, and trading goals. - Some firms may require you to pass a trading evaluation or assessment to demonstrate your trading skills and knowledge.
    4. Start Trading: - Once you are approved for funding, you will receive a trading account with capital provided by the firm. - Follow your trading plan and strategies, adhere to risk management rules, and aim to meet the performance targets set by the firm. - Monitor your trading performance, analyze your trades, and make adjustments to improve your trading results.
    5. Earn Profits and Grow: - As you trade successfully and meet the firm's performance targets, you may be eligible to receive a share of the profits generated from your trading activities. - Continue to refine your trading skills, learn from your experiences, and grow your trading account.
Remember that prop and funded trading involve risks, and it is essential to manage your risk effectively and trade responsibly. It is also important to choose a reputable and regulated proprietary trading firm to ensure the safety of your funds and the integrity of the trading program.

  • Benefits of Prop/Funded Trading?

There are several benefits of participating in proprietary or funded trading programs, including:
    1. Access to Capital: One of the main benefits of prop or funded trading is that traders can access capital provided by the proprietary trading firm to trade financial markets. This allows traders to leverage their trading activities and potentially generate higher returns compared to trading with their own capital.
    2. Profit-Sharing: Many proprietary trading firms offer profit-sharing arrangements, where traders receive a share of the profits generated from their trading activities. This can provide traders with additional income and incentives to trade profitably.
    3. Risk Management: Prop and funded trading programs often come with risk management rules and guidelines to help traders manage their risk effectively. This can include position sizing limits, maximum daily loss limits, and risk mitigation strategies to protect the trading account from excessive losses.
    4. Professional Support and Training: Proprietary trading firms typically provide traders with access to professional support, training, and resources to help them improve their trading skills and knowledge. This can include trading education, mentorship programs, trading tools, and market analysis.
    5. Trading Infrastructure: Proprietary trading firms offer traders access to advanced trading platforms, technology, and infrastructure to execute trades efficiently and effectively. Traders can benefit from low latency, fast execution speeds, and access to a wide range of financial instruments and markets.
    6. Performance Evaluation: Prop and funded trading programs often involve performance evaluations and assessments to monitor traders' trading activities and results. This can help traders track their progress, identify areas for improvement, and strive to meet performance targets set by the firm.
    7. Trading Community: Proprietary trading firms usually have a supportive trading community of experienced traders, analysts, and mentors who can provide guidance, advice, and insights to help traders succeed in the financial markets.
    8. Potential for Growth: Successful traders in prop and funded trading programs have the opportunity to grow their trading accounts, increase their profits, and potentially qualify for additional funding or trading opportunities within the firm.
Overall, participating in prop or funded trading can be a valuable opportunity for traders to access capital, improve their trading skills, manage risk effectively, and potentially earn profits from their trading activities.

  • What are the Trading Rules for our Classic Challenge (2-stage)

Maximum Daily Loss (Drawdown) = 6%On a daily basis, the amount of equity (Balance +- floating P/L) in the account is noted. All losses within the next 24 hour window must not exceed 6% of the noted value. If at the end of the first day, your equity grows to $212,000, this becomes the baseline for the next day and your equity should not drop below $199,280, and so on. For all stages of the evaluation process and the funding stage, breaching daily drawdown limits will result in account failure.
Maximum Overall Loss (Drawdown) = 12%On an ongoing basis, the maximum drawdown on your account equity must not fall below the 12% threshold. For instance, a $200,000 account must not record a drop of equity (Balance +- floating P/L) below $176,000. In the funded stage, a $200,000 account must be grown to $210,000, after which the funded trader can withdraw up to 95% of the profit amount ($10,000 * 95%) which equals $9,500.
